How do you plan on-site group CPR training? Decide which American Heart Association course each person needs, count participants, pick a time window and number of sessions, and confirm a room with floor space and power. This free planner turns those answers into a plain-text summary for a quote request. Nothing you enter is stored or sent.

Last updated: October 17, 2026 · Written by QKC Health, an AHA Authorized Training Center · Based on AHA course information, OSHA guidance, and QKC Health's Terms of Service

**What this planner is:** a worksheet that turns your answers about courses, headcount, timing, and room setup into a plain-text summary you can send with a quote request. It draws on American Heart Association course information, OSHA guidance, and QKC Health's Terms of Service. Nothing you enter is stored or sent.

**What it is not:** a booking, a price quote, or a promise of dates, availability, or group size. It does not decide how many trained responders your workplace needs, and it does not show that a plan meets OSHA or any other requirement. Confirm the course and card your employer, school or program, licensing board, or state rules require before you register.

## Plan Your Group CPR Training

Answer what you know, then build a summary to copy or download. Questions marked required must be answered.

The interactive planner needs JavaScript, which is turned off or unavailable in your browser. You can still use the printable planning checklist below, then request a quote through our [contact page](https://qkchealth.com/contact/) or call [(212) 548-3284](tel:2125483284).

## Group CPR Training Planning Checklist

The same questions as the planner, in a list you can print or copy into an email to gather answers from managers.

**Who is training**

- [ ] Your organization type and the city or town where training would take place
- [ ] How many sites need training, counting each building or address
- [ ] The total number of participants, and how many work in healthcare or patient care roles
- [ ] Whether participants need a first card or a renewal: check the Renew By month on each current AHA card

**Which courses**

- [ ] Which AHA course each role needs, and about how many people need each course
- [ ] Whether anyone needs first aid as well as CPR and AED
- [ ] Whether an employer, licensing, or program rule names a specific course

**When**

- [ ] Preferred months, days, and times of day, as preferences only
- [ ] How many sessions or shifts you need so everyone can attend

**Where**

- [ ] A room large enough for participants to work on the floor during skills practice
- [ ] Access to power in that room
- [ ] Site access details such as parking, security check-in, or building hours

**People**

- [ ] Any accessibility or accommodation needs, shared with QKC Health in advance
- [ ] A heads-up for participants that the class is hands-on: they kneel on the floor and perform chest compressions on a manikin
- [ ] A reminder that anyone who is pregnant, recovering from injury or surgery, or living with a condition that may be affected by physical exertion should consult a healthcare professional before attending

## Choosing Courses for a Mixed Group

Typical AHA course choices by role. Your employer, school or program, licensing board, or state rules make the final call.

### Clinical and Patient Care Staff

Usually BLS. The AHA designs BLS Provider for healthcare professionals and trained first responders. Staff whose BLS card is current or recently expired may fit the [BLS Renewal class](https://qkchealth.com/classes/bls-renewal/).

### Office and Other Non-Clinical Staff

Usually Heartsaver CPR AED. For non-healthcare workers who need CPR and AED training for their job, the AHA says Heartsaver CPR AED is probably the best fit. See [Heartsaver CPR AED](https://qkchealth.com/classes/heartsaver-cpr-aed/).

### Designated First Aid Responders

Usually Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED, which adds first aid to CPR and AED. The AHA designs its full version, Heartsaver Total, to meet OSHA and regulatory requirements, and says its Basic version does not generally meet them. See [Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED](https://qkchealth.com/classes/first-aid/).

### Roles That Require ACLS

If a role requires ACLS, plan it alongside the rest of the group. Under QKC Health's Terms of Service, ACLS is available to individual participants as well as groups. See [ACLS certification classes](https://qkchealth.com/classes/acls/).

### Childcare Staff

Childcare licensing rules can name a specific course. The AHA designs Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED for child care workers. It is not listed on QKC Health's class pages, so ask about it before you plan. See the [Connecticut childcare CPR requirements guide](https://qkchealth.com/resources/connecticut-childcare-cpr-requirements/).

### Not Sure Who Needs What

Run each role through the [CPR course finder](https://qkchealth.com/resources/cpr-course-finder/), or compare the two main courses in [BLS vs CPR](https://qkchealth.com/resources/bls-vs-cpr/). You can also check Not sure yet in the planner.

Confirm the course and card your employer, school or program, licensing board, or state rules require before you register.

## Workplace CPR Training and OSHA Requirements

This planner collects logistics. Whether your workplace must train responders, and how many, depends on the rules that apply to you. For the on-site class itself, see QKC Health's [workplace CPR and first aid training](https://qkchealth.com/classes/workplace-training/).

OSHA's first aid standard requires that, where no infirmary, clinic, or hospital is in near proximity to the workplace, a person or persons be adequately trained to render first aid (29 CFR 1910.151(b)). The standard itself does not mention CPR. OSHA specifically requires CPR training under certain industry standards, including permit-required confined spaces, logging, electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, dive teams, and construction power transmission and distribution work.

OSHA does not certify first aid training programs, instructors, or trainees, and it has stated that online training alone does not meet its first aid and CPR training requirements, because the skills need hands-on practice. The AHA designs Heartsaver CPR AED, Heartsaver First Aid, and the Heartsaver Total version of Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED to meet OSHA requirements, and it also notes that OSHA does not review or approve any courses. Your employer decides what satisfies its obligations.

### Planning points from OSHA's first aid best practices guide

OSHA's Best Practices Guide: Fundamentals of a Workplace First-Aid Program, published in 2006, is advisory and creates no new legal obligations. Several of its suggestions bear on a group training plan:

- **Shifts and locations:** it suggests estimating emergency medical response times for every location, and for every time of day and night that workers are on duty, and using that information when planning a first aid program.
- **Language:** it says first aid policies should be communicated to all employees, including workers who may not read or speak English, and that language barriers should be addressed when choosing who will be trained as first aid providers.
- **AEDs:** it says CPR training should include AED training if an AED is available at the worksite. For AED placement and readiness, see the [workplace AED readiness toolkit](https://qkchealth.com/resources/workplace-aed-readiness-toolkit/).
- **Refreshers:** it recommends instructor-led retraining for life-threatening emergencies at least annually. That is guidance, not a rule. AHA course completion cards are valid for two years, through the end of the Renew By month; the [CPR renewal planner](https://qkchealth.com/resources/cpr-renewal-planner/) can help you track them.
- **Bloodborne pathogens:** it notes that an employee expected to give first aid as part of their job duties is covered by OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens standard (29 CFR 1910.1030), which has its own training requirements.

This planner does not decide how many trained responders your workplace needs, which roles need which card, or whether a plan meets OSHA, state, licensing, or any other requirement.

## What Affects the Cost of Group CPR Training?

There is no single price for a group. QKC Health quotes each course for your group and confirms the price in writing before the class.

Under QKC Health's Terms of Service, prices are quoted per course and confirmed in writing before the class, and the confirmed quote is the price you pay. Because prices are quoted per course, the first thing a quote depends on is which courses your group needs. Listed per-person prices differ by course: for example, the [BLS Provider class](https://qkchealth.com/classes/bls-provider/) is listed at $95.99 per person and [Heartsaver CPR AED](https://qkchealth.com/classes/heartsaver-cpr-aed/) at $115 per person. A listed price is not a group quote; the price for your group is the one confirmed in writing.

The Terms also set what can change the amount you are invoiced. If fewer people attend than the confirmed minimum, the confirmed minimum is invoiced. A cancellation or reschedule fewer than seven days before the class may be charged up to the full course fee. A replacement card requested after the class is charged separately. To prepare training for your team, QKC asks about your training needs, team size, and preferred courses, which is what this planner collects. Per-person prices for many individual courses are listed on the [class pages](https://qkchealth.com/classes/).

### What to have ready for a quote

- Which courses you need, and whether participants need a first card or a renewal (BLS and ACLS have separate renewal classes)
- About how many people need each course
- How many sessions or shifts you need
- Where training would take place, and how many sites
- Your preferred months, days, and times of day

### Policies in QKC Health's Terms of Service

- **Request, then booking:** submitting the contact form is a request for training, not a booking. A booking is confirmed only once QKC confirms the course, date, time, and location with you in writing.
- **Minimum participants:** most courses require a minimum of three participants, and ACLS is available to individual participants. If fewer people attend than the confirmed minimum, the class runs as scheduled and the confirmed minimum is invoiced. Participants who do not attend a group class do not reduce the confirmed group fee.
- **What the fee covers:** quoted fees cover instruction and AHA course completion cards for participants who meet the AHA performance requirements. A replacement card requested after the class is charged separately.
- **Invoicing:** unless agreed otherwise in writing, training is invoiced after the class is delivered, and invoices are payable within 30 days.
- **Changes:** a confirmed booking can be canceled or rescheduled at no charge seven or more days before the class. Fewer than seven days before, a cancellation or reschedule may be charged up to the full course fee.
- **Your site:** for on-site training, you provide a room large enough for participants to work on the floor during skills practice, with access to power, and tell QKC in advance about any site access restrictions.

Read the full [Terms of Service](https://qkchealth.com/terms/) before you confirm a booking. This summary does not change them.

## Group CPR Training: Frequently Asked Questions

### How much does group CPR training cost?

There is no single price. QKC Health quotes each course for your group and confirms the price in writing before the class, and the confirmed quote is the price you pay. Send the courses, the number of participants, the number of sessions, and the location with your quote request. Per-person prices for many individual courses are listed on the class pages.

### How long does a group CPR class take?

It depends on the course and the format. Instructor-led AHA courses and blended courses, which pair an online part with an in-person skills session, take different amounts of time. The time of your class is confirmed in writing when your booking is confirmed.

### Is there a minimum group size for on-site CPR training?

Under QKC Health's Terms of Service, most courses require a minimum of three participants, and ACLS is available to individual participants. If fewer people attend than the confirmed minimum, the class runs as scheduled and the confirmed minimum is invoiced. If you plan several sessions, ask how the minimum applies when you request a quote.

### Does OSHA require CPR training in the workplace?

Not for every workplace. OSHA requires adequately trained first aid personnel where no infirmary, clinic, or hospital is in near proximity, and it specifically requires CPR training under certain standards, such as permit-required confined spaces and electric power work. OSHA does not certify or approve CPR courses. Your employer decides what satisfies its obligations.

### Can employees complete CPR training online?

Not entirely. Every AHA course that includes CPR skills requires a hands-on skills session before a card is issued, and OSHA has stated that online training alone does not meet its first aid and CPR training requirements. In AHA blended learning, staff complete the online part first and then attend an in-person skills session.

### How often should employees retrain in CPR?

AHA course completion cards are valid for two years, through the end of the Renew By month shown on the card. OSHA's first aid best practices guide, which is advisory, recommends instructor-led retraining for life-threatening emergencies at least annually. Your employer or licensing rules may set their own schedule.

### What should employees know before a group CPR class?

The class is hands-on. Participants kneel on the floor and perform chest compressions on a manikin. Anyone who is pregnant, recovering from injury or surgery, or living with a condition that may be affected by physical exertion should consult a healthcare professional first, and accommodation needs should be shared with QKC Health in advance.
