## Healthcare Provider Certification Questions

### What certifications do healthcare providers need in Connecticut?

Certification requirements depend on your role:

- **BLS (Basic Life Support)** — Required for most healthcare providers
- **ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)** — Required for physicians, critical care nurses, EMTs, and paramedics

Both are AHA-issued and valid for two years. QKC Health offers both throughout CT.

### Can QKC Health train our entire hospital or clinic staff on-site?

Yes. We provide on-site BLS and ACLS training for groups of 3+ at:

- Hospitals and clinics
- Dental offices
- Nursing homes
- Other healthcare facilities

We bring all equipment (manikins, AED trainers) and schedule around your staff rotations.

### How do I know if I need BLS or ACLS certification?

**BLS** is the foundational certification for nurses, CNAs, dental professionals, medical students, and hospital staff.

**ACLS** is an advanced certification for physicians, ER nurses, paramedics, and ICU staff who manage cardiac emergencies.

The AHA recommends current BLS before enrolling in ACLS. Contact us if unsure which your role requires.

### Do healthcare providers receive an AHA eCard after completing the course?

Yes. Upon completion, you receive an official AHA eCard:

- Widely recognized by employers, hospitals, and licensing boards; confirm which card your employer or licensing board requires
- Valid nationwide
- Good for two years, through the end of the Renew By month
