## BLS Skills Session Questions

### What is the BLS Skills Session?

The BLS Skills Session is an in-person, hands-on testing session where you demonstrate CPR, AED, and bag-mask ventilation skills to an AHA-certified instructor. It is designed for healthcare providers who have already completed the HeartCode BLS online course and need to complete the skills check portion to earn their full AHA BLS Provider certification.

### What do I need to bring to the BLS Skills Session?

You must bring your HeartCode BLS online course completion certificate. This is proof that you have completed the cognitive portion of the BLS course online. Without it, you will not be able to take the skills test. If you have not completed the online course, you will need to register for the full BLS Provider classroom course instead.

### How long does the BLS Skills Session take?

The BLS Skills Session takes up to 2.75 hours, including breaks; the AHA notes that experienced students may finish sooner. The session focuses entirely on hands-on skills validation with no classroom lecture component, making it a quick and efficient way to finish your BLS certification.

### Is the certification from the Skills Session the same as the full BLS Provider course?

Yes. Upon successful completion of the BLS Skills Session, you receive the same official AHA BLS Provider eCard that is issued in the full classroom course. It is valid for two years and widely recognized by employers and licensing boards nationwide; confirm which card your employer or licensing board requires.

### What happens if I do not pass the skills check?

If you do not pass the skills check on your first attempt, the instructor will provide feedback and allow you to practice before retesting. Our goal is to ensure every student leaves with the confidence and skills needed to perform BLS in a real emergency. Contact us if you have any concerns before your session.
