## ACLS Provider Course Questions

### What is the ACLS Provider course?

The ACLS Provider course is a comprehensive American Heart Association course that teaches advanced cardiac life support skills. It covers recognition and early management of cardiac arrest, ACLS algorithms for various cardiac rhythms, airway management, pharmacology, team dynamics, and megacode scenarios. It is designed for healthcare professionals who lead or participate in cardiac emergency response.

### How long is the ACLS Provider course?

The full ACLS Provider course is typically conducted over two days and takes about 16 hours, including breaks, based on American Heart Association course times. This includes classroom learning, hands-on skills practice, simulated megacode scenarios, and both a written exam and skills evaluation.

### Do I need BLS certification before taking ACLS?

Yes. Current AHA BLS Provider certification is a prerequisite for the ACLS Provider course. ACLS builds on BLS skills, so you must have a solid foundation in high-quality CPR and basic resuscitation. If you need BLS certification first, QKC Health offers BLS Provider courses as well.

### What is included in the megacode evaluation?

The megacode evaluation is a practical skills test where you manage a simulated cardiac emergency from start to finish. You will demonstrate your ability to recognize cardiac rhythms, apply the correct ACLS algorithm, administer appropriate medications, manage the airway, and lead a resuscitation team. This is the final practical assessment of the ACLS Provider course.

### Can you provide on-site ACLS training for our hospital?

Yes. QKC Health provides on-site ACLS Provider training at hospitals, emergency departments, and other healthcare facilities throughout Connecticut for individuals or groups. We bring all necessary equipment including cardiac monitors, manikins, and airway supplies. Contact us to schedule on-site ACLS training for your team.
